After all computers have been examined by SPAudit, or if you wish to print the results of the computer just audited, select Report Option… from the File menu. This will give you a number of options for how and where to print your report.
At this stage, you can choose one of three options from the Report Option… menu. This option will determine how you want your results to look:
• By User: .This will provide you with a report showing each computer's contents as found by SPAudit. The information given includes the user name for the machine, the volumes located at each workstation, the products found and the publisher of the application software
• By Application: .This will provide you with a cumulative report showing the names of all application found by SPAudit, the name of the publisher and the total number of instances in which the product was found, i.e., 55 copies of a spreadsheet, 34 copies of a word-processing package. This report will not identify the computer on which a specific application was found
• Detailed Summary: This will provide you with results similar to the By Application report. In addition to this information, however, the Detailed Summary provides information concerning the physical location of the applications, i.e., on whose drives the programs reside.
Compare the report produced by SPAudit with purchase records, original disks, documentation, license agreements, and other proof of purchase for each of the programs listed. Any program that cannot be traced in some reasonable fashion should be considered an unauthorized copy. Unauthorized copies of software should be destroyed and replaced with authorized copies.
